The progressive rock band Jethro Tull around Ian Anderson with his characteristic flute playing is definitely considered a cult and awakens many a memory of "the good old days"
With the re-release of the second album "Stand Up" as a 180g 45 RPM double LP, Analogue Productions now offers a special audiophile treat of this classic
The reissue is sonically superior to the 1969 original in many areas and gives great songs like "Fat Man", "We Used To Know" or the legendary version of Bach's "Bourée" a new stage
But also visually the release is a gem on the record shelf due to the "Tip-On" cover plus original pop up stand of the band
While the first album "This Was" was still strongly influenced by the blues-loving guitarist Mick Abrahams, Anderson brought in folk-rock, classical and jazz elements on "Stand Up" after his departure and from now on formed the typical Tull sound with Martin Barre on guitar
Songwriting and the musical direction were now in Anderson's hands, whereby he steered the band sustainably in a more progressive direction
The album, which is particularly close to Anderson's heart, made it to No. 1 in the British charts and brought the band gold status in the US
